Today explore Addis Ababa’s major highlights. Visit the National Museum, home of the famous 3.2-million-year-old fossil “Lucy.” Continue to the Ethnological Museum for insight into Ethiopia’s diverse cultures. Visit Holy Trinity Cathedral and experience the lively Merkato market, the largest open-air market in Africa.
Overnight: Addis Ababa
Take a morning flight to Bahir Dar. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic boat trip on Lake Tana, the source of the Blue Nile. Visit ancient island monasteries such as Ura Kidane Mihret, known for its colorful religious murals and sacred artifacts that reflect centuries of Ethiopian Orthodox tradition.
